Recently, practice manager Lucy had the joy of visiting her son’s childcare centre to give a short talk about what it’s like to work at a vet clinic. Walking into the room, she was met with a mix of curious faces, wiggly excitement, and at least three enthusiastic questions before she even sat down.
She brought along a stethoscope, a stuffed animal ‘patient’, and some very special equipment from the clinic. Lucy showed the kiddies how vets and nurses ‘gown-up’ for surgery, how we give injections, and all the kids took turn in helping to place bandages on our furry friend.
What struck Lucy most was how naturally children care about animals. They eagerly shared stories about their own pets, asked thoughtful questions, and showed kindness toward our toy animal on the mat. It was a lovely reminder of why she loves this work—and how early compassion can grow when we nurture it.

It was a morning full of laughter, learning, and tiny future veterinarians in the making.
